Applications Open for the REED Undergraduate Placement Year
Applications are now open for the REED Undergraduate Placement Year
In 2018 REED launched its first official Placement Year offering for UK undergraduates looking for work experience as part of their degree, taking on 11 new starters across the REED network.
In 2019 we are looking to expand the scheme further and have 20 places available for hard-working, ambitious students with an interest in the recruitment industry. Applications for a 2019 summer start are only open from now until early December so make sure to apply quick. More detailed information and the application link can be found on the Undergraduate Placement page.
REED’s placement programme is an excellent opportunity for any student looking to gain real hands-on work experience in a commercial business environment. In addition to receiving world-class job training, placement students will also get the chance to experience a wide range of teams across the REED group, including the head offices of Reed Specialist Recruitment and reed.co.uk.
With a minimum basic salary of £18,000 (up to £22,000 in London) and performance-based bonuses on top of that, our placement students are some of the best paid students in the UK!
Who can apply?
REED welcomes applicants from any UK undergraduate degree course, and due to our vast office network we are able to place students in a range of locations. Our 2018 cohort is made up of students from Reading to Hull and from courses including Business and Management, History & Politics, and Social Policy & Sociology to name just a few. These students are currently working in REED offices as far south as Brighton and as far North as Liverpool and Leeds.
What do our current placement students say?
We caught up with three of our London based placement students to see how things are going a few weeks in to their placements.
Sarah – Talent Sourcing Specialist
Business Management & Human Resource Management student Sarah from the University of Surrey works in our London Bury St office (metres from the famous ‘Gherkin’) as a Talent Sourcing Specialist; helping find candidates for one of REED’s major clients, the NHS. Click the video below to find out what Sarah believes to be the best thing about working for REED.
Katie – Resourcer
As with all of REED’s Early Talent programmes, whilst your preferred locations will always be taken in to account, the more flexible you are, the better your chances of being successful in the application process. Katie, a Business and Management student from Aston University is undertaking her placement in our Farringdon office as a Resourcer for Reed Marketing & Creative. Having moved to London from Birmingham for her placement she offers the below advice for anyone thinking of doing something similar.
Dani – Resourcer (& Social Media Coordinator)
Dani joined REED this summer as a Resourcer for REED Scientific. In addition to supporting her team with finding candidates for their client’s scientific vacancies, Dani also supports the division with their social media content. Dani offers some valuable advice (video below) for any students thinking of applying to work in recruitment.
